Tallahassee, Fla. (September 9, 2015, AP) - When he saw the police officers walking his way, he bolted – the only thing racing faster than his feet was his heart.It was gut instinct that told the high school sophomore to run, although he wasn’t doing anything wrong – he was just waiting for a friend to come outside. Tallahassee police officers then chased him down. He didn’t have drugs, weapons or anything else illegal on him so the situation fizzled out.

FDLE receives seventh national reaccreditation

Miami, Fla. (November 23, 2015) - ...CALEA was created in 1979 through the combined efforts of four major law enforcement agencies-the International Association of Chiefs of Police, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, National Sheriffs' Association, and Police Executive Research Forum. The commission was formed to develop a set of law enforcement standards and to establish and administer an accreditation process through which law enforcement agencies could voluntarily demonstrate that they meet professionally-recognized criteria for excellence in management and service delivery.

TPD to host "Pack the Patrol Car" Event at Target

Tallahassee, FL.(July 30, 2018) - The Tallahassee Police Department is hosting the annual "Pack the Patrol Car" event this Saturday, August 4, 2018 between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. TPD will be placing a patrol car in front of Target at 2120 Apalachee Parkway. We are asking the community to help us pack the patrol car with school supplies such as backpacks, paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, folders, protractors, and other necessary school supplies.
